B2 Atelier is pleased to present Held in Suspension, a solo exhibition by Shannon Thek Prier.
Prier’s practice unfolds through the language of fluidity and release. Working primarily with poured pigment, she navigates the space between intention and surrender, allowing gravity, viscosity, and time to participate in the formation of each composition. The resulting works evoke atmospheric horizons, sedimented landscapes, and luminous thresholds — forms that appear to emerge rather than be constructed.
Rooted in an intuitive relationship with nature and memory, Prier’s paintings resist narrative. Instead, they create meditative fields of colour and transparency where surface becomes depth and movement settles into stillness. The pour process functions not as spectacle, but as quiet collaboration between artist and material.
Within Held in Suspension, painting becomes a site of balance — between control and chance, dissolution and form, interior reflection and expansive space. The works invite sustained looking, proposing abstraction as a means of presence rather than escape.
Shannon Thek Prier
Raised in rural Pennsylvania, Shannon Thek Prier is an intuitive artist whose creative spirit was present from early childhood. Surrounded by nature and influenced by a familial connection to the influential artist Paul Thek, she developed a deep sensitivity to the emotional and transformative power of art. Rather than following a strictly academic path, Prier’s artistic voice evolved organically — shaped by lived experience, introspection, and an enduring impulse to create.
Although her early professional pursuits expanded her perspective, the call toward art remained undeniable. Today, her practice centers on pour painting, a process that moves between intention and surrender. Through the fluid movement of pigment and layered transparency, Prier blends deliberate control with spontaneity, allowing color and gravity to collaborate in the formation of luminous, meditative compositions.
Her work invites both artist and viewer into a space of stillness and reflection. In the delicate balance between submission and creation, Prier engages deeply with her materials and inner landscape, navigating the unpredictable energy of the natural world while fostering calm, renewal, and emotional resonance.
