B2 Atelier is pleased to present Shifting Terrain, a solo exhibition by Bridget Farrands.

Farrands approaches landscape as lived experience rather than topographical description. Rooted in places she has walked, her paintings register shifting weather, fractured terrain, and expansive sky through a structured yet expressive use of colour. Hills, shoreline, and trees are constructed in rhythmic planes that move between observation and abstraction. Light is not depicted as effect, but as force — shaping form, atmosphere, and spatial tension. Influenced by Expressionist traditions and post-war British painting, Farrands develops a language grounded in structure while remaining attentive to sensation. The works hold a quiet intensity, where landscape becomes memory, movement, and enduring presence.

Bridget Farrands

Bridget Farrands is a painter working in acrylics and oils, creating expressive landscapes and still life compositions that explore mood, structure, and atmosphere. Her work moves beyond simple representation, seeking to interpret not only what is seen, but what is felt.

Her landscapes are inspired by places she has personally visited—locations that have stirred her through the experience of walking within them. These works capture the emotional resonance of environment, translating memory, light, and movement into paint. Her still life paintings are deeply rooted in nature, often featuring flowers, shrubs, and dramatic organic forms that seem to demand expression on canvas.

Bridget is drawn to the rhythms of colour and light, striving to paint beyond immediate appearances and into the patterns and sensations that define her experience of a subject. Influenced by artists such as David Hockney, the German Expressionists, and Joan Eardley, she continues an ongoing exploration of her own visual language—seeking to discover who she is as an artist and to share her unique way of seeing the world with others.
